Complex Litigation Counsel

Job Description:

Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP is seeking a Counsel with 10+ years of civil litigation experience to serve as the chief of staff for a large and growing docket of litigation and pre-litigation matters. Responsibilities include managing operations, supervising attorneys and non-attorneys, and coordinating efforts on various client matters. Key qualifications include: extensive experience in complex civil cases, leadership skills, organizational expertise, and proficiency in litigation management platforms and AI tools. The ideal candidate will have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, strong academic credentials, and a writing sample.

The role involves supervising a team of attorneys and non-attorneys, coordinating with the client, and interacting directly with relationship partners. This is an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with innovative projects, prioritizing multiple projects in a fast-paced setting.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing operations for a large portfolio of litigation matters
• Developing docket management strategy and improving workflows
• Supervising and improving data collection across the docket
• Interacting with clients, relationship partners, and team members

This role is analogous to serving as coordinating counsel in an MDL or other large-scale group of litigation matters against a single client.
